Sexy Black Dress 30 Day Challenge

Hey there! It’s Stacy, owner of NYC Adventure Boot Camp. I am really excited to reveal a challenge that I’ve NEVER done before.

The holidays are just around the corner and I have decided to fit into a black dress. But this is no ordinary black dress. I paid for this dress that is a whole size smaller than I would normally wear. Let me call it my ‘ultimate fantasy’ dress size. And now, I’m going to fit into this dress in 30 days and get in the best shape of my life. But I also decided to do something I have never done before. I mean, why should I do this alone? I’m sure there are plenty of us who are dying to look incredible for the Holidays.

So here’s my challenge to you… I want you to think of a sexy black dress that you fantasied about buying. Now I want you to think of your dream dress size. Not just one size smaller but your fantasy dress size. The one you’ve always wanted to fit into. Are you still with me? So here is the hardest part.

I want you to go out and buy this dress TODAY.

Yes do this right now and keep the receipt. Over the next 30 days I’m going to reveal to you the step by step process of how to fit into this dream, fantasy sexy black dress. By the way, if you do everything I say and don’t fit into this dress, it’s very simple.

Just keep the receipt and tell me how much you paid for the dress and I’ll take care of the bill for you.

That’s right I will pay you in cash for the cost of the dress if you don’t fit into it.

You don’t even have to worry about wasting your money because I’m so confident I can get you into this dress. And by the way I’ve NEVER done anything like this before.  It’s the first time in my life that I’ve taken on such a big challenge. But you know, I’m pretty confident I can get you there. And here’s how I know why…

A few years ago, after doing a photo shoot for fitness boxing and not being happy with my body in the pictures, I was struggling to find a plan that got me in the BEST shape of my life for the next fitness shoot which was happening 3 weeks later.

So I got to work and slimmed down my body using a very specific eating plan and workout formula. And I recorded everything I did. I wrote down what I ate and the workouts I did every day, some super-secret ways for slimming down fast to actually lose the weight and the results were outstanding. I was thrilled with the progress!

Now, every time I put on some extra weight or I have a beach vacation coming up, a reunion or a family engagement I go back to what I did in those 3 weeks and it’s never let me down. And you know what; it’s never going to let YOU down either.

It is my secret get-into-sexy-shape-plan that’s always worked for me.

So now, I’ve created a 30 day ‘Black Dress Project’. It’s only for a handful of ladies, 40 of us total and we are going to do it as a team. At the end of 30 days, here’s what’s going to happen. We are going to celebrate and have a MAJOR party together. You will wear your sexy dream dress and we will have a professional photo shoot and VIP Champagne celebration!!!

So imagine this. You’re going to have pictures of yourself in your favorite sexy dress and your body’s going to be lean and in shape just before the holidays come around.

Last thing, here’s one thing I can promise you. Everyone that sees you wearing this dress will ask you 1 question: How did you fit into that dress you look AMAZING.

This is the ultimate reward!!

Here’s exactly what to do if you want to be part of the Secret Black Dress Project

Strength Training is for Women, Too!

If you are a woman, you might be missing out on one of the most beneficial fitness activities, and that is strength training. Women often have misconceptions about strength training, believing that it will make them look like body builders. They might believe that lifting weights is only for men or people that want to look ripped. The truth, however, is that strength training is important for women, and this importance only increases as you get older.

Strength training has a variety of benefits for women. Here are just a few:

  • Strength training increases physical strength while decreasing body fat. The more you spend time lifting weights, the more you build lean muscle. The more you build lean muscle, the more you lose body fat and increase your metabolism. This means that you will burn more calories throughout the day.
  • You will develop muscle tone and definition. If you want to improve the physical appearance of your body, strength training goes a long way. Lifting weights two or three times a week will tone your whole body. The key is to target your major muscle groups including your legs, upper body, chest, back, and abdominals.
  • Strength training reduces your risk of injury. As our bodies age, our risk of injury increases. Strength training cuts down on this risk while improving athletic performance. Plus, weight lifting cuts down on the muscle fatigue you might experience while exercising or just participating in daily activities like laundry or carrying groceries.
  • Strength training cuts down on arthritis and back pain. Besides increasing the strength of muscles, lifting weights also increases the stability and flexibility of joints. Studies have shown that strength training also reduces back pain. This are especially important as we age.
  • Strength training reduces your risk of osteoporosis, heart disease, and diabetes. These three health risks become a problem as you get older, but strength training can cut down on your chances of developing them.
  • Strength training improves your mood. Strength training helps women feel more confident about themselves and it wards of symptoms of depression.

Ways to Manage Stress

No matter who are you, everyone deals with stress. Stress can be defined as the body’s reaction to everyday challenges, and in our modern society, stress is an ever-present part of life. However, the danger comes with trying to take on too much. Chronic stress can lead to physical and emotional problems that will impact your health, relationships, and overall well-being. Women especially might feel the pressure to take on too much as they try to juggle their career, families, and lives.

The good news is that stress can be managed. Here are some ways to manage stress if you find yourself overburdened and overwhelmed:

  • Take Care of Yourself – The fundamental key to managing stress in your life starts with taking care of yourself, meaning, first of all, that you take care of your physical needs. If you find yourself skipping meals or sleep, that is a sure sign you are trying to do too much. Eat healthy, well-balanced meals and make time to get physical exercise at least three times a week. Sleeping is essential to fighting stress. It is the time that you restore your body and let it repair itself. You can not function properly if you are not well rested.
  • Make Time to Pamper Yourself – One of the best ways to relieve stress is to make time to do fun activities or things that help you to relax like meditation or going for a walk. Your idea of pampering yourself might be a day at the spa or retail therapy. In any case, treat yourself to something nice and put your to-do list away for a while.
  • Reach Out to Others – When our lives get busy, we can tend to isolate ourselves and put our relationships on the back burner. Sometimes you just need to call your best friend, go out to coffee with a supportive family member, or make time for a date night with your significant other. Relationships are beneficial in that they not only enrich our lives but they also fortify us against stress.
  • Learn to Say No – You might be trying to take too much because you haven’t learned how to set up boundaries in your life. This means being able to say no to demands and activities that you already do not have time for. Stand up for yourself and learn what you can handle.

Super Foods You Should Be Eating

Super foods that Every Woman Should be Eating

We have all heard the term super food but might not know what that means. Super foods are those that provide a large amount of nutrients but are light on calories. Super foods often contain nutrients that we need which our bodies do not produce naturally. Also, if you are a woman, your body has needs for certain nutrients that may be different from what men need. Here are some of the super foods that every woman should be eating:

  • Blueberries –Studies have shown that blueberries help to lower blood pressure, improve motor skills, and prevent memory loss. Plus, these berries are rich in antioxidants that fight wrinkles and signs of aging, and they are low in calories. Although experts say that wild blueberries are the best, you can find fresh blueberries or frozen ones at almost any supermarket.
  • Broccoli – This dark green vegetable is rich in many nutrients that women need including calcium iron, potassium, fiber, vitamin A, and vitamin C. There is also research that suggests eating broccoli can help prevent breast cancer by fighting excess levels of estrogen.
  • Walnuts – Walnuts are packed with all sorts of vitamins and minerals as well as fiber, protein, and heart-healthy omega-3s. Moreover, studies have shown that walnuts help to fight cancer, lower cholesterol, make your sleep better, and help you cope with stress so you don’t turn to junk food when upset or anxious.
  • Greek Yogurt – Not only is Greek yogurt delicious, but it is also high in calcium which is important to keep your bones strong and prevent osteoporosis. Plus, Greek yogurt is high in probiotics which helps to keep you regular and ease the symptoms of irritable bowel syndrome, a condition that affects mostly women.
  • Dark Chocolate – Yes, dark chocolate not only tastes amazing but it is good for you! Dark chocolate has a ton of antioxidants and has been shown to reduce the risk of heart disease and stroke. It also contains important minerals for strong bones including magnesium, zinc, copper, and phosphorus. Be sure to keep your daily intake to just one-quarter of an ounce!

Considering how good super foods taste it is not a chore to eat and take good care of your overall health. Try to think of foods as nutrients not only as a way to get “full”. Many foods have medicinal purposes and help ailments. Research your food a little, you will be surprised by what you may find.

Protecting Your Skin from the Sun

ImageAlthough I have written about this in a previous post, I cannot emphasize the importance of wearing sunscreen. I know us New Yorkers can not wait to get outside but please remember to protect yourself in these harsh summer days.

Summertime is an excellent time to get out and enjoy the outdoors! Summer is perfect for hanging out on the beach, entertaining with backyard barbeques, and enjoying all types of outdoor recreation activities like hiking and camping. However, with all the time you spend outside, there is the higher risk of permanently damaging your skin and increasing your chances of skin cancer. Melanoma, a type of skin cancer, is particularly deadly. On the other hand, there are some things you can do to protect your skin from the sun.

  • Wear Sunscreen – The most important way to protect your skin while outdoors is to wear sunscreen and apply it often! There are many different brands of sunscreen, but the Centers for Disease Control suggests one with a SPF of at least 15. If you are planning to spend several hours outside, be sure to reapply it several times. The rule of thumb is that SPF determines how many minutes to wait before reapplying. For example, sunscreen with a SPF of 60 should be applied every hour. If you are swimming, try a waterproof sunscreen.
  • Cover Up – Although summer invites us to wear shorts and tank tops, if you are spending all day outside, it might be better to cover up. Long sleeves and long pants can help prevent skin damage and cancer. The best times of fabrics are those that are lightweight and thin. Clothes with darker shades are also better at absorbing ultraviolet light. You can even find special recreational clothes with built-in SPF. Wear a hat with a wide brim to protect your head, neck, ears, and shoulders.
  • Limit Activity at Certain Times – The sun shines most intensely between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. Limit your exposure during those times and take part in activities in the early morning or evening.
  • Avoid Sunbathing – Doctors agree that sunbathing is never healthy for your skin, especially for people that are fair-skinned or sensitive to sun exposure. Experts agree that there is no such thing as a healthy tan except those that come from a can!
