Squeezing in workouts during your busiest times.

For many of us it feels like there simply aren’t enough hours in the day. We feel stretched in a million different directions and aren’t sure where to focus our efforts. This is a common sentiment, particularly among women who have multiple responsibilities to manage. So as you think of time for yourself it may feel that this is an impossible situation. If that sounds familiar, then how exactly are you supposed to find time to exercise?

With all of the things that we have to manage and get done on a daily basis, it’s no wonder that the workouts that we long for simply aren’t part of the equation. We often put them aside because there’s something we have to handle for work or for the family and so the workout feels more like a luxury. The truth is however that if you want to maintain proper physical and mental strength, then workouts are an essential aspect of your daily life.

Taking the Initiative and Recognizing the Results

First and foremost you must recognize just how important workouts are. You are not going to lose weight, change your body, or stay healthy in the short or long term without them. Sure there may be days where you simply don’t have the time to dedicate to a full workout, but there’s always a way to stay active. You must recognize and appreciate the importance of a workout first and foremost if you hope to get results.

You also need to focus in on the types of results that you actually want. These are bound to change and so there should be goals to support them. You may find that initially you want to lose weight. That may evolve into wanting to maintain your results and then build muscle on top of things. You might even find that as you move forward you simply can’t function properly mentally or physically without a workout, and so you need to take inventory if you hope to always find time to incorporate these important workouts.

Looking Into Alternative Times As Necessary

Sure before kids or your high demand career you may have had time to hit the gym after work each day. As your life evolves and you add new responsibilities and commitments to your daily routine, you may need to get creative with your routine and how you time them however.

You may find that a 6:00 am boot camp session is not only a great way to get up and get moving, but it may also fit nicely into your routine and allow you to squeeze something in. Previously you may have never thought that you could workout in the evening, first thing in the morning, or even at lunch time but hectic schedules call for some flexibility. Be ready to plan around your workouts and you are much more likely to fit them into your day with ease.

Always Focusing On Being Active Throughout Your Day

When the gym simply can’t fit into your schedule then get creative. Look for opportunities to be active all day long. Park a distance from the door so you can get in a walk whenever possible. Take the stairs instead of the elevator and try to get in opportunities to be active throughout the entire day.

When all else fails look for items that you can lift at home or at the office for a bit of strength training. Get in a round of pushups, sit ups, and high knees in a hotel room or in your own bedroom. Where there’s a will there’s a way and so if you can learn to make your workouts a priority then you will always find some way to be active and stay strong.

Busy Women of NYC

Hello my darling campers,

First, let me start by saying how very proud I am of all of you. The west side ladies are working out very hard. Today was one of the hottest day of this summer but they made it look like they didn’t even noticed the heat. By the end of this camp between the heat and the intense ab workouts you are going to be looking and feeling like a super star.

What can I say about my east side campers… You inspire me to wake up each day. You are my fuel and a true testament of commitment. I hope you enjoyed the hike today as much as we enjoyed it last week.

I have been thinking a lot about each of you as a person and there is one thing you all have in common… you are a busy woman!

Busy, busy, busy!  Women today feel busier than ever.  They work, take care of the kids and try to cram as many activities as possible into each 24 hour period.  When something has to give, it’s often the workout that gets put on the back burner.

You probably know the cycle:  You feel overwhelmed, so you skip a workout.  After a few days, you don’t even think about working out anymore.  Then, you realize how lousy you feel because you haven’t been working out.  Suddenly, it’s even more difficult to get everything done, because you feel lousy because you haven’t been working out!

This vicious cycle is, however, easily broken.  Here are a few tips to help busy women get in a daily (or at least a few times a week) workout.

Make it a Priority

I’ve noticed that some women who are very busy make time for watching  favorite shows and having drinks and dinner with friends.  Of course, there is nothing wrong with those activities, but working out has to take a place of priority in your life.  Try to get the mindset that it is the one thing that will NOT be compromised.

You’re important! If you make working out a priority, then you’ll feel better, look better and have more energy to complete all of the other necessary tasks.

Get Up a Little Earlier

I really mean “a little”.   Even if you get up just a half an hour earlier than usual, that will give you time to do 20 minutes of cardio and 10 minutes of strength training.  Even that small step can make a big difference.

Of course, if you do that, you’ll start to feel so much better that you may even start getting up earlier to get in a more substantial workout!

Don’t Think of it as “Work”

When you get your hair done or go shopping for a new outfit, you probably don’t look at it like a chore.  That’s because you know that it’s going to help you look your best.  Let me tell you that working out can do more to help you look your best than any outfit or hairstyle could ever do!

Working out is fun! It makes you feel better, look better and have more self-confidence.  Sure, getting motivated can be challenging at first, but much of that is a mindset.   Remember, working out is fun, and it’s something you’re doing for yourself.

Come to a Boot Camp

Yes, coming to a boot camp can help you change your perspective about working out.  We will show you how much fun it can be as well as give you a taste of how great you’ll feel after a good workout.

You will quickly be addicted, and won’t be able to live without your workout.

Attending a boot camp will help you learn techniques for working out as well as give you the confidence to know that you CAN do it.

Sure, we’re all busy, but if we’ve got to cut something, it shouldn’t be the thing that is most important to our health and well-being.
