Running To Lose Weight!

A lot of my clients come and ask me if running is a good form of exercise. Simply, yes it is. Running can and will help you drop the pounds and burn unwanted fat and it’s also a great way to get your energy levels up and a fantastic way to kick-start your day with a real boost! In fact, I go as far as saying that running is one of the best workouts and recommend it to everyone. Did you know that you could burn anywhere from 150-200 calories a mile when you are running?

Imagine if you run 3 miles every morning, that’s anywhere from 450-600 calories in that single workout, not to mention all the fat you’ll be burning and muscles you’ll be toning. Compared to simple walking or jogging, running definitely leads the way in terms of calories and fat burned. While running can definitely help you lose weight, it won’t be any good if you can’t turn it into a habit.

Running from your car to your front porch isn’t going to cut it, nor is running from your office to your boss’s in haste. You need to run for a specific amount of time before the effects start to take place. Running slowly, or waling most of the time is not going to help you achieve the weight loss goals you’ve set out for yourself.

Follow the advice below to make sure that your running routine is in fact benefiting you and helping you lose weight:

Running To Lose Weight Tip #1: Don’t ever lie to yourself. So many people, in an effort to clear their conscious cheat their way out of running every day by telling themselves that those 5 minutes they ran along the street when it was raining is enough. If you tell yourself that you ran enough when you really know that you didn’t, you’ll only be harming yourself.

Running To Lose Weight Tip #2: Make sure that you turn it into a routine. You can’t run once a week and figure that’s enough to help you lose weight. And going back to Tip #1, you can’t make excuses and say that you don’t have enough time to run every day because we all know that’s not true either. Do you ever say you don’t have enough time to eat, go to the bathroom, shower, watch your favorite TV program or movie? In that case, those 30 minutes you spend running every day are just as essential as any other task you do and you have to make sure that you do it every day! No slacking off, or you may just as well not run at all.

Running To Lose Weight Tip #3: Running isn’t enough—you have to make sure that you watch the food you eat as well. Yes, running will definitely help you lose the weight, however, if you’re eating more food that you should, it’s not going to help you burn enough calories and you may find yourself still putting weight on. Make sure to watch your calories and follow a healthy diet plan for maximum results.
