It’s summer again and we all know what that means. Beach time! Time to wear short skirts and tops and show more skin. But looking at your reflection in the mirror, you don’t like what you see. Want to get rid of that extra fat you packed on during the winter?

With summer already here, so many people are looking to lose those few pounds they pit on buy may not have the drive or motivation to go on a diet, exercise regularly and keep it at it for very long… This is where group dieting comes in, just like going out is more fun when you have someone to enjoy it with, so is dieting and working out with other people.

Know anyone who is looking to lose some weight as well? Perhaps a friend, family member or co worker who have all tried to lose weight time and time again, gone on crash diet after the next and still been unable to stick to a diet and lose the weight. It’s time to team up and lose the weight together!

Dieting and losing weight can become a lonely journey, one where you may encounter many obstacles, challenges and difficulties along the way—both emotional and physical. Having someone you can rely on for moral support, to motivate and encourage you when times are hard or simply pat you on the back and praise you when you reach an important milestone in your weight loss journey can not only ensure that you stick to your diet plan for longer, but that you never feel alone or so discouraged that you throw in the towel and give up.

There will come days where the need to eat something sweet or indulge in a meal that you really shouldn’t becomes too overpowering to ignore. You feel guilty after it, and if you don’t have the right support group to help put you back on track, you risk finding yourself losing control of the boundaries you had set up.

There may be moments where you feel weak, unmotivated or simply fed up of not eating everything that you want and having to exercise every day. It can get exhausting, both emotionally and physically…and you there will be days where you don’t have the spirit, eagerness or energy to keep at it.

Having someone else with you on your journey can make all the difference though.

Imagine going in for a weigh in at the end of the week and realizing that you’ve only lost half a pound—half a pound that could go back up if you drank enough water even. How would you feel? Obviously discouraged that you haven’t been rewarded for all those times you passed on fresh doughnuts for a healthy salad and delicious caramel lattes for black, unsweetened coffee. You worked out every day for at least an hour and even pushed yourself harder the last two days and worked out for about two hours—completely pushing yourself to the limits. And all for what in the end? Half a pound? It can be hard to accept and to many, it can be so discouraging that they just give up entirely.

Now, imagine this scenario:
You go for a weigh in with three of your friends whom you’re losing weight with as a group. You’ve lost half a pound, your friend’s lost one pound, your other friend’s gained a pound and your third friend hasn’t gained or lost any weight at all. Would you feel any different then?

Of course, you’d feel relieved and comforted and most of all, you’ll feel challenged. You need that sense of challenge more than anything when it comes to losing weight, because when your weight loss slows down, comes to a halt or worse, should you put on a pound one week from extra water in your system or muscles being toned, you are going to feel like weight loss isn’t worth the effort when it doesn’t seem to work. Only it does! It just isn’t as instant as we’d all like it to be. If only losing weight was as easy as putting it on!

Having others losing weight with you will challenge you so that you are motivated to stay on track and do better for the next weight in. When you feel tempted to give into a bar of chocolate, a double cheese burger or any other type of junk food, you are reminded of that weight in, that your friends are fighting off the same temptations and suddenly, the craving goes away. You want to be the one who loses the most amount of weight come next weigh in and there’s no reason why you can’t accomplish that!
