Most of you have seen The Biggest Loser. Very overweight men and women are thrown into a situation and there they learn that they can do things they probably never thought they could. If you follow the past contestants, you’ll learn that many of them continue in the healthy lifestyle that they were taught while on the show. One of the big reasons that participants have such success is that they were taken outside of their comfort zone and shown how much they could accomplish if they pushed themselves. Many of you who are reading this blog already have a workout routine, but many are not reaching your full fitness potential. Perhaps you need to take a giant leap outside of your comfort zone and learn how much you can do with the proper motivation. Attending a boot camp just might be the motivation that you need. Whatever your ultimate fitness goals, you won’t be able to reach them if you get complacent. The point of boot camp isn’t to whip you into shape Marine Corps style. Instead, we want to show you what you are capable of accomplishing. I knew one woman who hadn’t really had a workout plan for years. She was a little overweight, but very out of shape as far as being able to accomplish physical goals. She mentioned that she’d love to run a marathon, but quickly dismissed the idea because she hadn’t even walked a mile in years. But what she did next changed her life. She stepped outside of her comfort zone and joined a marathon training club. She was, at first, the least fit of the bunch. She felt out of place, but she kept at it. After a few weeks, she was running 3-5 miles a day. Someone had helped her, by guiding her on the path that would show her what she was capable of doing. Boot camp can do the same thing for you. You might not think you can keep up physically, but if you give it a try, you’ll be amazed at what you can do. Attending a four week boot camp isn’t just about working out. Sure, you’ll tone up and maybe lose a few pounds during the boot camp, but you’ll walk away with much more than a smaller waist. You’ll have done things that you may have never tried on your own. You’ll be with other women who may also be amazed at their own accomplishments and will support you in celebrating yours. If you want to get a taste of what boot camp is like, come by Central Park on Saturday July 25th at 9 a.m. for a free workout. Don’t worry about thinking that you’re out of shape or that you won’t be able to keep up. Our workouts are appropriate for people of all fitness levels. You’ll learn what you CAN do. And it’s probably a whole lot more than you think.
